Pass the Painting

A little colour, a fresh pair of hands and a painting that takes an unexpected direction.

This playful group workshop invites everyone to start a painting, then pass it on for someone else to develop. Each person adds their own colours, marks and ideas, creating a collection of paintings shaped by the whole group.

No painting experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to share the creative adventure.

What will we do?

We’ll begin with a relaxed mark-making warm-up before everyone starts painting on their own canvas panel.

After a short timed painting session, the panels move to the next person. You’ll respond to what’s already there, adding something of your own before passing the painting along again.

We’ll take a break between rounds where needed to let the paint settle, then continue building the layers together.

At the end, we’ll bring the paintings together to enjoy the results and see how they’ve changed along the way.

What’s included?

All paints, tools and materials are provided, including warm-up paper and canvas panels for the shared paintings.

Panel sizes and the number of paintings will be agreed when booking to suit your group and venue.

The finished paintings are yours to keep as a group. You might each take one home or display the collection together as a reminder of the experience.

Who is it for?

Friends, workplace teams and groups celebrating a special occasion.

It’s a chance to try something different together, enjoy unexpected ideas and contribute to a shared result. Everyone can join in, including complete beginners.

How long does it last?

Allow approximately two hours. The timing and number of painting rounds can be adapted to your group.

Wear comfortable clothes you don’t mind getting a little paint on.

Where can it take place?

Private workshops can take place at your workplace, a hired hall or another suitable venue arranged by you.

We’ll need enough table space for everyone to paint comfortably and pass the panels around. I’ll also need access before and after the session to set up and pack away.
