I Identify as Fabulous Darling
Let the fabulous begin…
This piece is pure unapologetic glamour - a celebration of self-expression, camp, queerness, and joy. I Identify as Fabulous Darling started as a sculptural experiment and evolved into a dazzling wall-mounted statement of identity. From the stunning stag’s head to the Swarovski crystal necklace, earrings and luscious red lips, every element was chosen to say: I am here, I am glorious, and I am not toning it down for anyone.
The journey began with a resin stag’s head, which I mounted onto an ornate vintage mirror. The glass was treated with absolute care - slowly drilled using a Dremel fitted with a diamond-tip bit, cooled gently with water and cotton buds. The head was attached with a secure screw and bolt system from behind, anchoring her firmly in her frame.
Once she was mounted, the adornment began. I drilled tiny holes into her antlers and ears to hang iridescent crystal ‘earrings’. A Swarovski Crystal chain was fashioned into a collar, and a handmade pearl necklace - threaded on nylon using leftover bridalwear beads - was crowned with a sparkling teardrop pendant. It was meticulous, delicate work… and fabulously over the top.
Seen in full, this piece demands attention. She’s glamorous, playful, defiant - the kind of artwork that turns heads and starts conversations. Seen here with the reflection of Cinderella Story in her reflection.
She’s not for everyone. But for those who understand, she’s everything!
