City After Dark

City After Dark was commissioned as a housewarming gift for a new home office in London. The couple had recently moved from the countryside and wanted a piece that quietly echoed the shift - from wide open spaces to the energetic pulse of the city.

Rather than something literal, they requested an abstract work that hinted at the bright lights of London at night. The result is a richly textured, atmospheric painting layered in midnight blues, slate greys, and dusky mauves, with streaks of pale light running through the surface. Like blurred reflections in a rain-slicked window, the composition invites you in - a quiet meditation on transition, movement, and urban calm.

This piece was created in textured mixed media on canvas, using palette knives, washes, and gestural markings to create architectural echoes and painterly mood.
